Russian IV

Happy Saturday everyone! Hope the weekend is off to a great start 🙂

This week, we will continue our study of Russian by looking at the Russian consonant sounds. I have kept this video very informal and broad because in Russian there usually is no hard and fast way to spell a consonant sound. This way we can analyze the multiple possibilities of a certain sound and try to figure out the probabilities of each.

I have had a busy month but am excited to be back 🙂 Today I’ll post the Russian II video, where we take a little closer look at the spelling sounds and patterns of this intriguing language. Enjoy!

Romanian I

Happy Saturday everyone! This week we will have something a little unusual: we will start and finish a whole new language in this video. It’s Romanian! The reason is that there are very few words in English that have been borrowed from Romanian, so we will just look at those words in this video instead of going through complex rules (because if we know all the words, then there is no need for any rules, right?!) Also, by the way, the song that I mentioned in this video is “Dragostea Din Tei” by O-Zone. It’s a good tune!

Polynesian Languages III

Hi everyone! Happy May! This week we will finish up our rules for Polynesian Languages. The third installment of this set of videos wraps up the vowel sounds which we started last week and takes a look at some consonant rules. Again, you will find that the consonant rules for Hawaiian, Samoan, Tahitian, and Maori are rather simple and phonetic — which is a good thing! Enjoy!

Happy Saturday everyone! In the third installment of Chinese, we will finish up our Chinese vowels (looking at “O” and U”) and will also cover consonant sounds in Chinese. There aren’t many consonant rules as most sounds are spelled how they would sound in normal English. Enjoy!
