Good morning everyone, and Happy Saturday!!! I realize it’s been a little more than a year since I’ve last posted here, but recent events of this summer deserve recognition, and I’m posting to do just that!
First of all, I would like to thank all of my blog followers for continuing to support and encourage the work I have done here. Catching up on comments and seeing recent donations to water.org never fail to make me smile; I am extremely happy knowing that the videos I have shared on this blog are used by spellers to explore and fall in love with the intricacies of not only our very own English, but several fascinating languages that have contributed to English.
I would like to extend my most heartiest congratulations to all the spellers who competed in the 2017 Scripps National Spelling Bee!!! Although I was abroad and could not watch it, I heard the most amazing things about this year’s Bee and how the spellers continue to dazzle us all with what they know. A special shout out to champion Ananya Vinay and finalist Mira Dedhia, both astounding spellers who shared with me immediately after the Bee how the videos on this blog have helped them on their journey. My mission is accomplished. I’m incredibly proud of you both and of all the other spellers as well. Best of luck to you all in your future endeavors 🙂
As for me personally, the past year has a been a whirlwind and I’ve had the most amazing freshman year at Princeton. I actually started taking German last fall (“schwärmerei” coming full circle haha) and got to spend an incredible month this summer in Munich — at one point I was reading a Bildungsroman right next to a field of edelweiss while feasting on nockerl and that undoubtedly whisked me back to my spelling days.
Hoping to actively keep up with this blog in the future.
Till then, ciao!
